Start of IMAX theatre demolition

On October 21 Inntel Hotels kicked off the demolition of the former IMAX theatre, located at the Leuvenhaven in Rotterdam. At this spot in 2013, Inntel Hotels will open the doors of its first five star hotel and the fifth hotel of the Inntel Hotels group.

Symbolic

With an audience of 200 local residents and business relations, Inntel Hotels performed the last show at the IMAX theatre. After that, there was a symbolic start of the demolition, as Karin Geurts, CEO of Inntel Hotels and Hans Schaick, General Manager of Inntel Hotels Rotterdam Centre, demolished the first wall together. After that, they drank health to a successful build of the new hotel.

Laser show

One of the guests said: "I was here 21 years ago when the IMAX theatre opened it's doors and I'm here witnessing the start of the demolition: that's a very special situation. The spectacular laser show was very impressive and it was a very honourable 'final act' in the theatre."

Special place

General Manager Hans van Schaick adds: "It's fantastic to get so many enthusiastic responses on the laser show, which was held in the large hall of the theatre. There was clearly a positive mood: everyone is happy that something great will be build here at this special place in Rotterdam."

MAINPORT by Inntel Hotels

The five star hotel that will be build after the demolition, will be directly connected with the existing four star Inntel Hotel Rotterdam Centre. The new hotel will have 213 luxurious wellness rooms, state-of-the-art multi-purpose rooms, restaurants, a cocktail bar, a lounge bar and a wide variety of wellness and fitness facilities. Besides that, the hotel will get a clear reference to the harbour of Rotterdam and other harbours around the world. The name of the new hotel was also unveiled during the laser show: MAINPORT by Inntel Hotels.
