The Christmas holidays are the perfect time to head out together and enjoy the cosy winter atmosphere. How wonderful is it when the best activities and outings are all within walking distance of the hotel? From ice skating to visiting spectacular winter events, there is something for everyone. In this article, we have selected a range of activities for each hotel that you certainly won’t want to miss during the festive season.
Scheveningen: ice skating & Christmas shopping
In the middle of the Kurhausplein, you can enjoy covered ice skating surrounded by lights, cheerful music and the scent of hot chocolate. The ice rink is open from 8 November 2025 until 8 February 2026.
In the mood for some shopping? Visit the Christmas Village in the centre of Scheveningen, a large Christmas shop filled with decorations and gifts. The shop is closed on Mondays and open from 10:00 to 18:00 on all other days.
Both activities are about a 20-minute walk from Inntel Hotels The Hague Marina Beach and can easily be combined with a refreshing stroll along the beach.
Utrecht: visit the winter village and enjoy the winter spectacle
Just a five-minute walk from Inntel Hotels Utrecht Centre, you can enjoy covered ice skating at U on Ice on the Jaarbeursplein, surrounded by warm drinks, winter snacks and festive music. Skating is available from 8 to 26 December. Those who want to experience even more festive cheer can visit the Utrecht Winter Spectacle: a winter wonderland with an ice rink, attractions, music and various Christmas activities. The Winter Spectacle is open from 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
Christmas in Zaandam: Christmas market and circus
Within walking distance of Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Zaandam, you’ll find the Christmas market at the Bullekerk, featuring charming stalls, warm drinks and festive treats. Perfect for picking up those last Christmas gifts. The Christmas market takes place on 13, 14 and 15 December.
For a festive family outing, the Winter Christmas Circus is highly recommended. With spectacular acts and cheerful performances, you can enjoy the magical winter atmosphere together. The circus is a 30-minute walk or a 15-minute bus ride from the station. It can be visited from 19 December 2025 to 4 January 2025.
Christmas magic in the heart of Amsterdam
In December, Amsterdam transforms into a magical winter wonderland. The Amsterdam Light Festival lets you explore impressive light artworks along the illuminated canals. You can walk the 6.5 km route or opt for a boat tour for a unique view from the water. This year, the artists have worked with the theme ‘Legacy’, focusing on heritage, memories, and what we pass on to future generations. The Light Festival can be enjoyed until 18 January 2026.
On Dam Square, a large Christmas tree of around 20 metres stands adorned with tens of thousands of LED lights, surrounded by the atmospheric illumination of the surrounding buildings.
For circus enthusiasts, the traditional World Circus in Carré is a must-see. For a winter museum visit with plenty of activities, the Rijksmuseum is the place to be.
