The Hague is a city full of contrasts. You'll find stately buildings, modern architecture, long sandy beaches, and tranquil nature. For photography enthusiasts—whether using a professional camera or just a smartphone—there are plenty of unique spots to discover. In this blog, we highlight three special photo locations that are a bit different. All three are easily accessible from Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach, your seaside base.

1. The Peace Palace – an impressive building with a story

The Peace Palace is one of The Hague's most renowned buildings, perhaps even in all of the Netherlands. It houses the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Even without a legal background, this place leaves a lasting impression. The architectural style is rich in detail: towers, arched windows, ornate sculptures, and a beautiful garden.

Unfortunately, the interior isn't open for casual visits, but the exterior is well worth seeing. The combination of history and symbolism makes the Peace Palace a powerful image.

Photo tip: Visit early in the day to capture the building beautifully lit without many people around. Use the fence as a foreground or shoot from a low angle to make the towers appear even more imposing.

2. Surfers in Scheveningen – action and energy on the water

The beach of Scheveningen is literally at your feet when you stay at Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach. Throughout the year, you'll see surfers riding the waves. Even in cold weather, they brave the water in their wetsuits. For photographers, this offers a fantastic contrast: the calm of the sea against the action of the athletes.

It's also a great place to experiment with different types of photography: motion, silhouettes at sunset, or vibrant images on a sunny day.

Photo tip: Use a zoom lens or the telephoto setting on your phone to capture the surfers up close. A fast shutter speed helps to freeze the motion sharply. Early morning or around sunset provides the best lighting.

3. Cycling through the dunes to Meijendel – nature and space

Looking to escape the city's hustle and bustle? A bike ride to the Meijendel nature reserve is highly recommended. From Scheveningen, you can cycle straight into the dunes, along winding paths, marram grass, and dune lakes. Along the way, you might spot rabbits, birds, and even a deer. The vistas are expansive, and the light changes with the landscape.

Good to know: At Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach, you can easily rent a bike. This way, you're in the heart of nature in no time.

Meijendel is photogenic in every season. In spring and summer, everything is in bloom; in autumn, the dunes have a warm glow; and in winter, there are beautiful contrasts between sand and sky.

Photo tip: Take time to stop occasionally. A bend in the path, an old tree, or a viewpoint can provide surprising images. A wide-angle lens or panorama setting works well here. Also, don't forget to bring a water bottle and sunscreen in good weather.

Your base: Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach

After a day full of photography, it's wonderful to return to your seaside hotel. Inntel Hotels Den Haag Marina Beach offers comfortable rooms with views of the beach and boulevard. You can relax in Spa Flow, enjoy the wellness facilities, or end the day with a drink or dinner at Bar & Brasserie Willem I.

Want to explore by bike? No problem. At the reception, you can easily rent a bike for half or a full day. This way, you can discover The Hague and its surroundings at your own pace—and reach places where the tram doesn't go.
